POTENSI BAHAN HERBAL EKSTRAK ETANOL DAUN MENGKUDU ASAL DESA WAJAK LOR, TULUNGAGUNG, JAWA TIMUR TERHADAP BAKTERI PENYEBAB JERAWAT

Abstract
ABSTRAC
Acne (acne vulagris) is a skin disorder due to the role of Staphylococcus aureus and Propionibacterium acnes bacteria which are almost experienced by all ages of women and men from the age of 14-30 years. The use of antibiotic drugs actually shows the risk and resistance of bacteria. At present, the research on herbal medicine is increasing because the side effects are relatively small and safer. One plant that has the potential to be antibacterial is noni (mengkudu). The aim of this study was to determine the potential ethanol extract of noni leaves from Wajak Lor Village, Tulungagung, East Java to against the bacteria that cause acne namely Staphylococcus aureus. The extraction process was carried out by maceration method with 96% ethanol. Thin Layer Chromatography Test was also conducted to determine the presence of antibacterial compounds in the ethanol extract of noni leaves. The inhibitory test of noni extract ethanol extract on Staphylococcus aureus was carried out by disk diffusion method with extract concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%. The results showed that 100% noni concentration of noni leaf extract produced the best inhibition zone with an average zone of 11.5 mm and included a strong inhibition zone. Based on the results of the study, the noni extract of noni leaves from the village of Wajak Lor, Tulungagung, East Java has antibacterial potential in the bacteria that causes acne Staphylococcus aures.
Keywords: noni leaves, ethanol extract, acne-causing bacteria
